VPS 1&1 Openbravo installed?

Last week I set up a test. I wanted to run Openbravo (open source ERP) on VPS (virtual private server). After looking for different hosting offers, rankings, forums I decided to go with 1&1.

Openbravo has it`s minimal requirements and 1&1 had the right solution for me. I know that many people are unsatisfied with them (especially with the support I think). For me they give right options for a medium price and I still have my Google knowledge base :).

So:

My VPS:

Guaranteed RAM 256 MB
Burstable RAM 1024 MB
CentOS 5 (http://www.centos.org/) + Plesk 9.

To run Openbravo I need to install

So my first step will be to verify if it is possible to install Java SDK and Apache Tomcat on CentOS 5 running on 1&1 VPS solution.

  1. Does it works with the 256 RAM with Burstable RAM 1024 MB ?
    At VPS with 128MB RAM;
    with OpenBravo 2.4 I got problem during BitRock installer script.
    with OpenBravo 2.5 I got error message : Cannot allocate memory during ant setup.

    How is your progress with 256 RAM burstable RAM 1024 MB ?

    thx

  2. 256 RAM is still not enough. I had to switch off all others applications and I give up, upon I could upgrade my VPS plan. Minimal hardware requirement for Openbravo is 1GB RAM preferably 2Gb and Dual Core processor or equivalent 1.8Ghz, or higher.
    Even if you achieve to run Openbravo on 256 RAM it will not going to serve sessions for other users, for that more than 2GB rather 4GB is needed.
